My mission
My mission is to create a friendly community where women can take time to learn and practice a more creative, artful and fulfilling life!
Art can be therapy in itself, and as Pablo Picaso so wonderfully stated, “Art washes from the soul the dust of everyday life.”
Our community shares products and techniques that may be new to you, but you’ll have the opportunity to find ways to use supplies you may already have on hand, for projects you already enjoy doing.
My story
I have enjoyed arts and crafts since I was old enough to hold a crayon. As a kid, I got more excited about an Easter basket brimming with colorful paper and watercolor pencils than a candy-filled basket. At nine, I learned to sew, and by fourteen, I made most of my clothes. From needle crafts to stained glass work, I never met a craft I didn’t like.
I enjoyed experimenting and learning, and turned art into adventures. I collected beer cans from along the rural country road where I grew up in Colorado to make miniature furniture, which fed my addiction to miniatures, later turning into creating miniature oil paintings. One of my favorite artful adventures was learning to decorate cakes, which allowed me to make my wedding cake. Another adventure was during the first holiday season we were away from home while my husband was in the Navy. To pinch pennies, I created all our Christmas tree ornaments from the most basic supplies.
Currently, living in the Forth Worth, Texas area, with the help of my little Maltese, Lucy, I focus on scrapbooking, card making, art journaling, and mixed media. I still love to learn, experiment, and take artful adventures. Over forty years of teaching crafts to kids, including my three daughters and three grandchildren, has taught me how to break down crafty techniques into clear, easy steps, which is what I now offer you. Join me on artful adventures to record and share your events and memories, craft handmade cards, and explore your creative self.
