Today I wanted to share a fantastic project by Julie Fei-Fan Balzer!
New life for an old globe.
You know how fond I am of taking found items and sprucing them up! Julie took an old globe she found at a thrift store and used some paint and vinyl cutouts to create a really great update to the globe. In fact, the direction she took this project will allow this globe to be used no matter how or when boundaries are redrawn for country borders, or what areas are renamed. She uses some great step-by-step photos so you can follow her project.
As you can see, it’s another way to use an electronic cutter for an artsy project. Using the letters for both a masking technique, as well as adding phrases, is such a great use of her machine and her creativity! Julie uses a Brother ScanNCut machine, but you can use your Cricut or Silhouette!
This video shows a fun method to create a winter painting as a gift or for your own home! Stephen Lursen has been doing some work with Donna Downey, and he generously shares this winter silhouette painting! I hope you enjoy it.
For those of you with an electronic cutting machine, you are a step ahead! Cutting a stencil to use would be a breeze!
The Close to My Heart Artbooking Cricut cartridge has this reindeer image which would make a great stencil for the holidays. Otherwise, just search for an image you can cut with your machine!
