February is LOAD220 month at scraphappy.org, (LayOut A Day, 2020). For me, it is always a push to get some pages done, whether I complete one each day of the month, or only complete a few. Even one is always better than nothing! It would be one story told.
Alice Boll has been the force behind ScrapHappy for a number of years now. Each year there is a LOAD event in February and May open to those who wish to participate; and a members only LOAD in October. There is a central theme for the month, and then prompts for each day, including a story prompt as well as a technique prompt. Sometimes people use the story prompt, the technique, or both! These random prompts have enabled me to tell stories I would probably never have thought of. Of course, you aren’t required to follow the prompt, and many people just use the opportunity to complete a specific project of their own. We often see pages from vacations, weddings, graduations and more. Alice also invites ScrapHappy members to be featured designers for the different prompts. Today I have a page featured for the prompt. I will share my page with you here.
My page today is a digital page from a recent cruise my husband and I took.
Today’s prompt reminded me of what I always think when I see the sun’s rays radiating out. To me, it is as if the sky is opening and creating a magical and dramatic effect to be enjoyed! I can’t really see sunrise or sunset from my house, and so anytime I get to see these, I think it is spectacular!
This page was done using the February ScrapHappy sketch. This is a digital page, and was done quickly using two photos from our trip last year. Although the sample page for the sketch looks like you could fussy cut to layer over the photo and create more interest, I simply used a second photo as a background for the basic oval shape. The background paper is sand, and creates interest with the colorful sun rays.
The page is simple, but sometimes simple is effective. Plus another moment and story has been documented.
