May Layout A Day – Day 7

Today’s layout was suppose to be done within 30 minutes.  I saw one of my Quick Pages that had come with a digital kit, and decided to use it for the layout inspiration.  I had to do it from scratch because it needed rotated and rearranged.  But I thought it would be pretty quick, because I knew most of what I needed to select!  All I wanted to use was one picture and a conversation between my 5 year old granddaughter and her aunt, my oldest daughter.  Things were going well and I was finished.  I have been doing so many pages and hadn’t restarted my computer in who knows when, and it hung up when I was trying to downsize the file so it would work well on the web.  I finally decided to just restart my computer.

When I tried to open my page, it was only the first layer – a plain white background I had saved with the file name!  Well, there went my 30 minutes down the drain!  At least I knew what to do to complete again quickly!  I must add, it must have already been having problems the last time I had saved it.  Oh well!  I still have another memory saved!

Twist a Tried and True Color Combination

For a new twist on a project, why not start with a tried and true color combination from a holiday, on a non-holiday related project.  Here is page that has summer pictures, with a red and green theme.  This one has quite a bit of red and green, but you could use one color predominantly, and hints of the other.  You could also vary the shades from what we normally think of as the old Christmas red and green.  Also try throwing in a third color and you really lose that holiday feel.

Ready, Set, Scrap

Today is another special month to some of us as we again band together to each complete at least a layout each day each day for the whole month!  Our fearless leader, Lain Ehmann, will be providing scrapbooking prompts for LOAD512 Scrapbooking Outside the Box.  Lain’s blog at LayOutADay.com and her regular podcasts provide inspiration and fun!

During our last LOAD in February, I didn’t post every layout.  I’ll try to do better this month.

Here is a page from today’s prompt — a self portrait.  I find it difficult to scrapbook about myself, but if don’t do it, who will.  I wish I had stories from other women in my family who are no longer with us to share their stories.  I’ll share mine, while I am here and can remember some of them!

I love to know you stopped by, so leave a comment!

The Art of Wild Abandonment

I am having so much fun in a new online class with Junelle Jacobson and Christy Tomlinson, called The Art of Wild Abandonment! These two women are so much fun to create art “with” and we are all having a blast.  How amazing that we can use the internet to find new art friends and share techniques, learn new things, and just share!

Anyway, just wanted share the first project with you — it’s radishes!  Yes, radishes in wild and unexpected ways!  Hope they bring a smile for you today!
